Boosty and the bot: why the subscription “disappears”
Short version
The bot does not see Boosty directly.
It looks at the last status snapshot it managed to read.
If you paid and canceled right away, the bot often thinks: no subscription.
No subscription in the bot = no access. Period.
Why
Boosty has no real public API.
We read the site with a browser and OCR (like human eyes, but a robot).
The robot only remembers the last thing it actually saw.
It does not understand “but I just paid”.
What to do
Do not cancel in the same second you pay.
Cancel ahead of time:
- a week before,
- 3 days before,
- or 1 day before.
Whatever you prefer — just not “paid and instantly turned it off”.
If you already canceled immediately
To the bot that looks like: no subscription.
This is not the bot being mean and not the site “freezing”. That is how the check works.
Want it smarter
The current check is simple and dumb, but honest.
For the bot to understand “paid, then canceled, but days are still left”, we need a new LLM-based system.
Contacts are open for donations. Ballpark to rebuild it: $1000.
